 I want to pay tribute to AALN 1 1 this Dude Droid protecting Tharg the Mighty  aka Alan Grant( I bet Jurrissic Park people  were fans of his work  as well as Pat Mills who they kinda ripped off)

Young Alan and other Droids-back in hey day - like Nirvana it felt like comics were on the cusp of changing everything - I guess they did - at pleast they impacted the surface (music coulpdn't ht the Death Star either but we are getting there)  

Burt 1 what a Dude! according to  Saint Martins  tutor would of got a job when the dude Burt was around  but whoever was editor circa 95 not a chance- great to see him in human form -Ezquerra , Eric Bradbury and possibly Robin Smith are also grande for creating there robot likenesses

I fell for Judge Anderson soon as I saw her - - my versions  fan love  just like Blondie same goes with Charley  I have real love for it's brillance- good story awesome art  -take in  what Alans about and maybe we can change this dopey arse world for the better

 

Here's a wee few examples of Alan's greatness The Original Button Man - which came out when I was covered in zits and Thatch in a second terrm - these awesome stories alongside thrash metal hard core Dead Kennedys The Smiths and Ramones made life bareable for a 13 year old .

Judge Anderson  who I reckon  may be based on Alan's wife - I know it's John Wagners creation  but  he wrote her character with such affection and empathy - there was a 2000ad interview  with Alan about Anderson but its gone now never mind.. mind you people still talk about his favourite story on that channel

Too many stories to cover tonight but I will return to Alan seeing as I'm trying to colour early episodes of Judge Anderson (getting a feel for Cliff's art next episode should arrive some time this year- horrible story about schooldays my mate who died was same generation a year older, Just  why were people in authority 50's sadisti insane scum? I'm lucky any teacher at my school did that I'd chin them coz I only looked up to my Dad and he taught me to take no shit  but met so many people who went through abuse the bastards will pay in hell, Everyone in 1991 knows this comic-same time as Nevermind good times! Thank you Alan Dude! yeah computers used to be like that lol- jeezwas that long ago? lol 

Anderson Psi Division Colouring Project-Part 2

 How  I spent my heatwave day.. colouring this old gem -original was very green -but always nice to revisit these old Brian Bolland Eagle covers -and MickMcMahon  too -big thx to Chris Weston for posting  black and white scan  .

Back to summer 1985 - this story and Chopper Supersurf 7 were rockin my universe.

Actually these pages take me back to 2020- I had a long break from colouring this story but came back to it when Covid 19  reared it's ugly mug - rough time lost my best mate -my Mum's future was also uncertain so to deal with such things got back into the colouring -helped me more than swallowing a  load  of slosh - so I'm thankful that John Alan  Brett and Tom created these pages in first place - still working on following episode featuring Cliff Robinson'e artwork - learning things everyday so it'll differ a bit from these pages.

Charleys War Colouring Project -Episode 7

 

Story Pat Mills -Art Joe Colquhoun-Letters -John Aldrich  and    Jim Campbell.

It's barely worth having this blog got  two views on last post -but that only puts me in determined mood instead - got the colouring bug again wanted to colour the best comic story ever even though in truth it's original black and white form thats how it intended to be seen at that time -but that's the challenge you see ... but these days everything else is in colour -and this stories so important that in my mind I feel if it can reach a new audience it's message which is at it's core anti war will reach a few more people.

Having better luck on fb group with this -but  here the images are bigger I'll stick them on Flickr at some point.

Later in this story you see the first tanks -but they weren't really as Joe has drawn  it's forerunner which was originally used for agricultural purposes

I went to Dorset on my hoils a few years back I do wish I went to Tank Museum now maybe I'll revisit I'm due a holiday -I've been caring for a solid two years with no break not even weekends -I wonder if the museum existed in 70's as it would be perfect place for Joe to sketch these machines I wonder how Ginger got hold of anti war paper The Masses before anyone else..where Robert Minors "At Last the Perfect Soldier " first appeared.

Two new characters introduced in this episode the battle that Lucky and Pops sons fought in was more than likely the Battle of Loos where the British first unleased gas warfare for the first time(I think the Germans used it first earlier that year)it prooved to be-a fatal mistake. Already working on episode 7 should have that completed by the end of the week,

Star Wars Colouring Project -A New Hope.

A few Star Wars things I coloured this yearI  haven't been able to complete things lately lives hectic on the caring front so completing things to a desired standard seems beyond my reach maybe get a few pages of Charley under my belt and I'll know what I'm doing again..-

These were taken from a Twitter post about Archie Goodwin and Al Williamson's dummy newspaper adaptation of  A New Hope  my friend had the book that featured these pages-The Art of Al Williamson in the 80's  so these strips were  hard to come by -but I figured if I'm going to colour Als newspaper strips I'll try this firsr as a demo- not the best scan ever but I had to try it out.

 

I wanted to get thes done by time Obi Wan came out -but if I feel like coming back to Star Wars Als Newspaper strips are next on the agenda which are much bigger than these images and line far better defined

Always wondered about this guy had very shiny boots lol C3PO and R2 are due a show I wonder if he'll pop up in it seeing as he's there old master. 

Very much looking forward to this Goldfinger & Doctor Zhivago in Star Wars galaxy fingers crossed.

Only Posting these as I'm on the beer -so this is nowhere near complete  -as I was colouring these The WAR  not  that so called special Operation Z broke out    I wanted to colour the exploits of The Falcons  as Russian Squadron defending Mother Russia always   conflicted by true Nazi's  &  Stalins Lapdogs the NVKD ..it was the people of Russia and surrounding countries around the USSR that defeated Hitler not the Battle Police  that seem to take the credit - I guess only true Russians know this - I hope they defend there country again against the tyrant that is in  the Kremlin-  I know people will think its anti Russian  it aint is only anti fascist  -well i'd of been proud to of coloured this story before  Putin went mad  , 

It's Battle Action  Time  great to know Garth is always on board JUST imagine if HMS Nightshade, Fighting Mann  or General Dies at Dawn became TV Series ~(The Boys and Preacher are doing well - could be  a possibility)

I love the fact my Dad read  Crisis as well so show's Garth  was an awesome writer- understood what went down  and why it should stop

 

Anderson Psi Division -The Four Dark Judges -Part One.

The original Garry Leach cover for Titan Books in latter half of the 80's I bought two copies one for colouring in felt tips Bad Company and various other books were given same felt tip treatment - Now in 2022 still up to the same old thing except with photoshop and it's as enjoyable as ever - working of Cliff Robinson's episodes right now  so thought I'd repost first few episodes  here because of sad news about Garry as I've posted these before on another blog but here's  part 1  Story John Wagner/Alan Grant aka TB Grover  back in the day- Art Brett Ewins.

- I'm working on this the Cursed Earth and Star Wars at the moment as well as looking after me Mum - the war has put me off Johnny Red although I have nearly completed pages -just don't seem right to post them here just yet maybe if the true Russians take down Putin then I can present that story in colour...

I think I started colouring these pages a few weeks before Brett died so I've been at this story since 2015 -I'll keep at it till it's conclussion and follow up with another Brett classic The Possessed of course Charleys War is the main priority colour wise but I will need to dive into Sci Fi from time to time -with the real stuff you need to process and research - Another Garry Leach classic cover ."The Future is Now!"
